Miss Priss was Jo’s only companion and confidante for several years before they met Alistair Conn.
When Jo found her huddled under the stoop at Mrs. Milligan’s, she was a scrawny kitten shivering in the rain.
They have kept each other sane in a world where there was no one else they could count on, and Jo loves her dearly–Priss appreciates Jo back.
Priss is key to the plot in The Marvelous Mechanical Man, as her kidnapping precipitates events.
Someone posted this picture on Reddit, and I asked if I could share it here, because it must be what Priss looked like that first day in Mrs. Milligan’s kitchen when she was warm and dry after Jo found her in the rain. :
In The Nearly Notorious Nun, she is revealed to be “in a family way”, and the birth of her kittens is an important event for Jo and Ma Stark. A contest was held to name the kittens, and readers had the final say, coming through in style:

Priss is given short shrift in The Incredibly Irritating Irishman, as Jo is not home very much to pamper her properly, but she will be given her due again in The Fiercely Formidable Fugitive!
