Phaeton

Originally named Goliath by his creator, Alistair Conn, Phaeton is a nine-foot tall automaton made of brass and a bit of magic.

Josephine Mann renames him almost immediately, because Goliath was a bully, but Phaeton is the son of Apollo…

Alistair intended the mechanical man to have industrial applications, but he hadn’t quite gotten the power source to function. As Jo fiddled about with it in the lab, she miraculously made it work–and later, when it mattered most–she thrust it into place and the marvelous automaton came to life.

He is fiercely loyal to his creators, intelligent, and articulate–a true gentle giant with a love of children.
